About Big Idea
Our Story
Many years ago we went to an event that was called “Good For Nothing.” The premise was that a whole bunch of people with various skills got together and provided pro bono work to help a great local cause over the course of a weekend. We had an aamzing time there, and it was incredible to see how happy the recipients (a food group and a disability group) were.
After the event was over, we realised how rewarding we’d found helping people who genuinely valued what we do and how much it meant to them. Although our skills and values are often underappreciated in the daily grind of day jobs and demanding paid clients, this was different.
So we decided that what we wanted to do was to continue the group with a select number of individuals who were both talented and committed to helping others in their own time. And Big Idea was born.
Big Ideas’ Skills
Although people tend to drop out and rejoin as and when they have availability, we always keep the same core skills between the member base as a whole. Membership is by invite-only to ensure we have enough time to thoroughly vet and appreciate people’s skillsets.

DBS Checked
As we often work with children and vulnerable adults, a DBS check is required of all our volunteers. All volunteers are thoroughly background checked by our existing team leaders too.

All the work we do utilises modern standards and best practices, with no cutting of corners. Training is included so you know how to make the most of your new assets and feel confident using them.
